LIPA interview with Preservica

Earlier this month the folks at Preservica requested an interview with me about LIPA’s work and our consortial use of Preservica for digital preservation. The interview was published today as a blog post entitled Working as a Consortium to Preserve Our Digital Legal Records.

It is fitting that the post was released today, on my last day of work before retirement. This gives me the opportunity to say what a pleasure it has been to serve as LIPA’s Executive Director for the past ten years.

I was fortunate to have been a founding member of LIPA in 2003, thanks to the vision of Bob Oakley, but I still never anticipated that my interest in preservation would lead me to this role, nor that it would be the position from which I would retire. It has been a great opportunity to learn and grow, and I want to thank all the board members I have worked with over the years. During the last couple of years, in particular, the board members really worked hard to ensure that we had policies and procedures in place that would serve us well in the future. I’m grateful to them and to all the LIPA members for your support.

I know you are in good hands with your new Executive Director, Michelle Trumbo, and with Christine Iaconeta and the rest of the board for the coming year. I look forward to new developments to advance LIPA’s mission of preservation and access.
